Magnet nabs U.S. rights to 'Goon'
Magnet Delivering, genre arm to Magnolia Pictures, has already established US rights to Michael Dowse's hockey comedy "Goon."Deal was introduced early Tuesday morning within the Toronto Intl. Film Festival. "Goon" opened up Friday at TIFF.The film is produced by No Trace Camping's David Gross and Jesse Shapira, Don Carmody, and Jay Baruchel.Pic stars Seann William Scott just like a mild-mannered hockey enforcer as well as Baruchel, Liev Schreiber and Alison Pill. Baruchel and Evan Goldberg pennned the script.Scott plays a dumb but loveable bar bouncer plucked from obscurity being the enforcer for just about any minor league hockey team. Magnet plans an early on 2012 theatrical release incorporated in Magnolia's Ultra VOD program.The seven figure deal was talked about by Magnolia SVP of Purchases Dori Begley and Mind of Legal and Business Matters Chris Matson with CAA, attorney James Feldman and Kirk D'Amico of Myriad Pictures.
